Estimator – Holyoke, MA




JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Under the direction of the Chief Estimator, responsible for estimating material quantities, labor and related item for bids and budget estimates. Work with available plans, specifications and related data to arrive at conceptual and final cost estimates for projects. Read and interpret all contract documents. Examine field conditions for proposed job location and photograph. Take off material quantities in preparation of job estimates. Contact subcontractors and material suppliers for pricing.
  • Distribute project documents to subcontractors and vendors and assist to resolve questions. Receive and evaluate subcontractor and material pricing and input into bids. Interpret estimated items for field personnel. Assist Senior Estimators and the Chief Estimator in finagling and presenting estimates.
  • Broad knowledge of construction and basic knowledge of estimating practices. Judgement required to plan work, analyze, assemble data and determine proper action to be taken within limits of standard practice.
  • Professional communication skills, including the ability to present estimates to clients/owners in a polished manner. Broad knowledge of construction and estimating practices. Judgement required to plan work, analyze, assemble data and determine proper action to be taken within limits of standard practice. Capable of using computers and the ability to learn new software.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Basic knowledge of estimating practices and procedures. Familiar with construction practices and techniques.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum two years’ experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam/Adobe, Experience with HCSS and Onscreen Takeoff Preferred.
